Columbia College is offering a second eight-week summer session starting in the 2016-2017 academic year. This additional eight-week session will allow us to offer a total of six eight-week sessions in one academic year. In other words, our Evening, Graduate, Online, and Nationwide campuses are transitioning from a two semester, five session academic year to a three semester, six session academic year. To allow for this change, we will bring all venues, locations, and programs providing eight-week courses onto the same academic calendar, using the same semester start and end dates. The above image shows the new semester structure with three semesters and six eight-week sessions. What changes should I expect? The academic calendar will be different from years past. As you can see in the image above, your breaks will occur at different times. For day campus students, your in-seat class times will be different. Evening, Graduate, Online and Nationwide Students will now be able to register for both the early and late eight-week sessions of each semester: fall, spring, and summer. Your enrollment status of full-time, half-time, or less than half-time will be calculated based on your enrollment for the semester. Students will need to register for both sessions
before the semester begins for some financial aid eligibility, loan deferments,
private scholarships, public assistance, or student discounts. As a result of the multi-session registration, your payment plans and billing invoices will change. We have outlined the general changes to these areas on the "What you need to know" page. As we get closer to July's open registration period, we will also post scenarios, step-by-step instructions, and other helpful documentation to assist you. Some of our student groups have more specific changes.
